In our old house we had a nice-sized master bedroom. However, its odd shape limited the placement of our king-size bed and there wasn't any room for side tables to hold lamps and an alarm clock.
Side tables get a lift to match bed height
By JASON HAMMOND
When we designed our new home, we made sure our bedroom could accommodate our large bed and two side tables. We considered building our own tables, but Stacy found $120 high-gloss white cabinets at CB2, a division of Crate & Barrel that offers modern furnishings that can be ordered online.
The tables were easy to assemble, but when we placed them next to the bed, we discovered they were too low for us to reach the shelves or see an alarm clock clearly.
We removed the legs and mounted the tables to the wall using framing screws. I placed the screws behind the divider shelf so they are obscured from view. The "floating" cabinets are now the correct height on each side of our bed. Our next challenge is to find side table lamps that fit the space.
