Someone playing the lottery in Edina just got $2 million richer.

The lucky Mega Millions ticket for Friday’s multistate drawing was bought at a Holiday Stationstore just west of Hwy. 100 and north of Interstate 494, according to Minnesota Lottery officials.

The ticket fell short of the $77 million jackpot but still matched the first five numbers drawn, which is normally worth $1 million, but missed the Mega Ball number. However, since the player paid an extra $1 to add the Megaplier option, the payout doubled to $2 million before taxes.

The prize must be claimed in person at Minnesota Lottery headquarters in Roseville. All winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

The business reaped a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Lottery officials are withholding the winner’s name and city of residence, unless that person agrees otherwise.

Friday’s winning numbers were 29-46-53-69-70 and the Mega Ball was 23. Mega Millions is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

With Friday’s jackpot miss, Tuesday night’s drawing grows to $93 million.
