As the official start to summer kicked off early Tuesday afternoon for theNorthern Hemisphere, the heat is cranking up in the Southwest. After a coolspring, a ridge of high pressure will build over the region into Wednesdayproducing abundant sunshine and light winds.High temperatures will soar into the 100s over a good portion of southwesternArizona; the inland deserts and valleys of California will push into the 100sas well. Widespread 80s and 90s will cover the rest of the region. TheCalifornia beaches will be a good location to escape from the heat, withtemperatures settling in the mid-70s at the coast from San Diego to LosAngeles.
