OXFORD, Ohio — A southwest Ohio city and university are all aboard with a plan to try to get passenger train service.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports (http://cin.ci/1vtwTBa ) that Oxford and Miami University plan to soon jointly ask Amtrak officials for scheduled stops of its Cardinal train line. The line runs from Washington D.C. to Cincinnati and on to Chicago. It passes through Oxford, without stopping.

Local officials say they believe a lot of Miami students would use the train.

Oxford hasn't had passenger rail service in decades. Officials say a bus shelter-type stop could be used.
