Displaced families in some areas, including hard-hit Uniao dos Palmares, have taken up residence in schools.
As rescue and cleanup efforts continue, a much-needed prolonged dry spellwill not grace the flood-ravaged area.
A disturbance moving inland will produce a couple of spotty showers acrossnortheastern Brazil today. The showers will be mainly confined to the morninghours and should not drop additional heavy rainfall.
Showers will continue into Thursday and Friday. Again, rainfall will belight and spotty.
Showers could become more numerous this weekend into next week as moremoisture streams into northeastern Brazil and the tail-end of a front movesnorthward.
