A St. Cloud man died in a single-vehicle crash in western Wisconsin, authorities said Thursday.

The SUV rolled over on westbound Hwy. 8 west of Weyerhaeuser in Rusk County about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

David G. Larson, 70, a passenger in the SUV, died at the scene, the patrol said. Larson was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver, 80-year-old James J. Mrozek, of Sauk Rapids, Minn., was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in nearby Eau Claire. He had on his seat belt, according to the patrol.

The patrol said the SUV crossed the centerline, went into the ditch and struck a tree, then a utility pole.
