St. Paul man is charged with killing during burglary

A St. Paul man has been charged with killing a woman when she interrupted his burglary of her north Minneapolis apartment.

Gregory Antoine Davis, 30, of St. Paul, has been charged by the Hennepin County Attorney's Office with second-degree murder in the death of Brianna Jones, 21, according to county attorney spokesman Chuck Laszewski.

Davis was arrested Tuesday. He made his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to Jones' apartment at 1518 Emerson Av. N. about 3:20 p.m. Dec. 22 by Jones' boyfriend.

Jones had apparently interrupted a burglary a short time before her boyfriend found her body. According to the Hennepin County medical examiner, Jones had been shot in the head.

Davis was dating the mother of Jones' boyfriend.
