The Star Tribune has been named a finalist for the prestigious Gerald Loeb Awards for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism, in the category of breaking news.
Award finalists announced Thursday included "Best Buy CEO Resigns Under Cloud" by Star Tribune staff writers Thomas Lee, David Phelps, Janet Moore, Paul McEnroe, Tony Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy and Eric Wieffering.
The entry included stories the newspaper published during April 2012 that revealed, among other things, that departed CEO Brian Dunn was under board scrutiny for alleged inappropriate behavior with a female subordinate.
The Loeb Awards have been given since 1958 to reporters and editors who inform and protect private investors and the general public through their coverage of business, finance and the economy. This year's winners will be announced June 25.
