Cambridge coach dies in Andover crash
A head-on crash Aug. 26 in Andover killed Gary R. Christofferson, of Isanti, Minn., a former teacher at Cambridge Middle School who coached football and baseball at Cambridge-Isanti High School.
Christofferson, who began teaching in the school district in the mid-1970s before leaving in 1999, was honored at the Cambridge-Isanti home football game Aug. 29 with a moment of silence.
He had worked as an advocate for teachers with Education Minnesota for the past 14 years, most recently for educators in the St. Francis and Anoka-Hennepin school districts.
An SUV was heading north on Round Lake Boulevard near 174th Avenue, when it crossed the centerline and hit Christofferson's car head-on, according to the Sheriff's Office.
