State baseball finals today

The three baseball state tournament championship games are still scheduled for Wednesday starting at noon at Target Field. The games were postponed Tuesday due to inclement weather. Minnesota State High League officials will reassess the weather situation Wednesday morning. The three championship games are Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial (25-3) vs. Eden Valley-Watkins (22-2) in Class 1A at noon, St. Cloud Cathedral (23-3) vs. La Crescent (24-3) in Class 2A at 3 p.m., and Burnsville (23-3) vs. Maple Grove (26-1) in Class 3A at 6 p.m.

Etc. • The St. Paul Saints, despite committing five errors, broke a four-game losing streak with an 8-4 victory over the host Lincoln (Neb.) Saltdogs in the second game of a doubleheader. Lincoln won the first game 7-4.

Seimone Augustus and Katie Smith, two of the top scorers in Lynx history, are among the 30 nominees for the best 15 WNBA players of all time.

Tyus Jones of Apple Valley had two points, two assists and three steals in 13 minutes as the USA U16 men opened play at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship with a 105-70 victory over Brazil in Cancun, Mexico.

Ryan Williams was named the interim head football coach at Concordia University in St. Paul. Williams has served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the previous six seasons.

Alex Klehr shot a 3-under-par 69 at Interlaken Golf Club in Fairmont to qualify with four others for the 108th men's state amateur next month at White Bear Yacht Club. Mark Hayes led 14 qualifiers at Sawmill Golf Club in Stillwater with a 1-under 69.

Devin Holmes will play Kyle Beversdorf and Ryan Peterson will play Colton Buege on Wednesday in the semifinals of the 33rd MGA Players' Championship at Deacon's Lodge in Pequot Lakes. The championship also is Wednesday.
