State Sen. Michael Jungbauer, R-East Bethel, was recuperating in a St. Paul hospital after being struck by a car while jogging near the Capitol early Wednesday morning.

Jungbauer was alert and responsive when taken to Regions Hospital, said Senate spokesman Michael Brodkorb. Jungauer, 53, senator likely sustained a minor concussion and was to remain in the hospital overnight for observation. He was listed in fair condition.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Sen. Jungbauer and his family," Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch, R-Buffalo, said via Twitter.

Jungbauer, in his third term, is married with four children.

This incident comes less than a week after the death of his father.
