Center John Sullivan is taking part in practice Sunday after missing most of training camp and all four preseason games because of a calf injury.

Sullivan worked with the first-team line during individual position drills. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said last week that the team wants to evaluate Sullivan in practice early this week to see if he's physically able to play against the Saints on Thursday.

Cornerback Cedric Griffin is taking part in his first practice after being on the PUP all training camp while he recovers from ACL surgery. Griffin will be limited and it's unlikely that he will play Thursday.

Two players were not on the field -- rookie cornerback Chris Cook and defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy.

Cook suffered a torn meniscus and is expected to be sideline several weeks. The team has not disclosed Kennedy's injury, but he missed the final two preseason games.

The Vikings also announced their seven-man practice squad: safety Colt Anderson, offensive guard Thomas Austin, defensive tackle Tremaine Johnson, wide receivers Freddie Brown and Logan Payne, fullback Ryan D'Imperio and cornerback Marcus Sherels.

The Vikings have one practice squad spot open.
