Taylor Swift was the big winner at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, taking home eight trophies including awards for Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album ("1989"), Top Streaming Song (Video) ("Shake It Off") and the fan voted Billboard Chart Achievement Award.
The "Shake It Off" singer, who opened the show with the world premiere of her new star-studded music video "Bad Blood," came into the competition with an edge over other artists.
Sam Smith, Iggy Azalea and Pharell Williams followed Swift with three trophies each, while Meghan Trainor and John Legend each won two awards.
Billboard Music Awards finalists are based on album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social-media interactions — measurements that are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.
The awards were broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 17, on ABC at 8 p.m ET, with hip-hop star Ludacris and supermodel Chrissy Teigen serving as hosts.
