Old-school 'Cowboys' Has a measure of sanity finally come to a small corner of Hollywood? The crowd at San Diego Comic-Con let out a monstrous cheer when director Jon Favreau announced that his "Cowboys & Aliens" will not be filmed in 3-D. Instead, he's aiming for a John Ford-style Western with sci-fi elements that are more "Close Encounters" than "Avatar." The film, starring Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, is set for release next summer.

The final reel Now that Craig has filled the Mikael Blomkvist role in "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," David Fincher's search for Lisbeth Salander has narrowed to four, says Entertainment Weekly: Rooney Mara (the upcoming "The Social Network"), French actress Lea Seydoux and Australians Sarah Snook and Sophie Lowe. One of them is about to become a household name. ... This year's "It Guy" Tom Hardy ("Inception") replaces last year's "It Guy" Sam Worthington ("Avatar") in the romantic action comedy "This Means War," co-starring Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine. ... Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake voice Yogi and Boo-Boo in a CGI "Yogi Bear." ... Russell Crowe is making the musical (!) drama "Dirt Music" with director Phillip Noyce ("Salt").
