The top 10 in New OrleansBrett Anderson, the fortunate soul (and Minnesotan) who is the food critic for the New Orleans Times-Picayune, just came out with his list of top 10 restaurants. It's good to get Anderson's picks: Bayona, Clancy's, Cochon, Domenica, Emeril's, Gautreau's, Herbsaint, La Petite Grocery, Patois and Restaurant August. But it's also enlightening to read the comments section, where locals get passionate about restaurants not on the list. Lilette and Coquette get the most love there. A Vegas hotel benefits from another's demiseThe 40-year-old Plaza Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas has emerged from a transformation helped by a halted luxury casino project on the Strip. When the planned Fontainebleau hit financial trouble, its luxe furnishings were up for grabs. The Plaza grabbed. Now the hotel, on the casino corridor known as Fremont Street, has undergone a makeover with Fontainebleau's furnishings. The Plaza reopened on Sept. 1 with its more than 1,000 rooms and suites remodeled. Bargain rates remain, averaging $109 on weekends (www.plazahotelcasino.com).
