The new and improved Sunday Variety section is here. We've added space, tidied up regular features and, most exciting, created new destination pages. Why change? We wanted to show our commitment, as Minnesota's largest newspaper, to covering the arts, pop culture and lifestyle topics our readers care deeply about.
The Variety section is getting bigger, better
Inside the Sunday print section, you'll find a streamlined calendar page focusing on the best events of the week, and a Pop Culture showcase of what's current and buzzworthy in TV, movies and music.
Our new State of the Arts page will zero in on ideas about how the arts reflect cultural change — and shape it. You'll find occasional profiles of community movers and shakers here, as well as explorations into the ways in which art matters.
We also know readers care about wellness in a broad way, so we've made a Be Well page to round up health news and offer practical information on how to transform body and mind. I'm excited to introduce a new Gail Rosenblum column on the page, titled "The High Road." Gail will answer reader questions about sticky situations, giving us all ideas about how to be our best selves.
Finally, our new back page, True North, is a place to celebrate the state we live in. You'll find spectacular photos of the week, some by staff photographers and some by readers. (Look on the page for how to contribute.) James Lileks' column will be here, poking fun of our foibles. And each week, we'll profile people making a positive difference in a feature called "Minnspiration."
We hope you'll enjoy the changes.

Lefse-wrapped Swedish wontons, a soothing bowl of rice porridge and a gravy-laden commercial filled our week with comfort and warmth.
