Third-ranked Gophers wrestlers fall to No. 5 Iowa

The Gophers wrestling team, ranked third in the nation, lost to No. 5 Iowa 19-17 on Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.

Dylan Ness, Logan Storley, Kevin Steinhaus, Sonny Yohn and Tony Nelson picked up wins for the Gophers.

The Gophers trailed 19-14 going into the final match, which meant they needed a pin to pull out a victory. Nelson scored a takedown late in the third period but couldn't get the pin, winning 7-2.

Despite the loss, the Gophers (9-3, 6-1) remain atop the Big Ten standings. Penn State and Nebraska are 5-1 in the Big Ten.

Men's tennis falls to San Diego The Gophers men's tennis team, ranked 25th in the nation, lost 5-2 to No. 27 San Diego on Sunday in the ITA Kickoff Weekend event in Berkeley, Calif. The Gophers picked up wins in singles play from Phillip Arndt and Rok Bonin. They face LSU on Monday.
