Flooding rain has hit northeastern New South Wales on the east coast ofAustralia as of Tuesday. Rivers flowing seaward between Coffs Harbour andBallina were driven into flood, in some instances serious, by widespreadrainfall of 4-8 inches since the day on Sunday. At Dorigo, rainfall was atleast 15 inches.Onshore wind flow together with stubborn low pressure over eastern Australiawill prolong the threat of excessive rain into the day on Friday overnortheastern New South Wales. Any further heavy rain could quickly drive riversout of their banks.
