Today's trophy tales
Three fishing tales from opening weekend in Minnesota
Ryan Kelly, Coon Rapids • 65-inch sturgeon • Rainy River
While fishing with friends Kenny Lom and David Zwack on April 28, Kelly (above) battled for 25 minutes to land this sturgeon, which had a 28-inch girth. Kelly admitted to being sore after the contest.
Good day with grandpa
Chase Risic of Tonka Bay caught this haul of crappies on Lake Minnewashta's calm waters in Carver County on Saturday. Risic was fishing with his grandfather Richard Zweig.
A pretty pike
Patti Brown of Farmington, fishing with her father Tom, caught (and released) this 38-inch Northern Pike on a west metro lake on Saturday.
