Twin Cities fans of Tim Hortons coffee shop and restaurant, your Timbits and triple triples will arrive next month.

The iconic Canadian coffee brewer will open in the Mall of America in early November on the second floor east near the rotunda. A second restaurant will open at 319 14th Av. SE. in Minneapolis' Dinkytown about a week after that.

"Tim Hortons is a great addition to our expanding and eclectic mix of fast-casual options throughout Mall of America," said Carrie Charleston, vice president of leasing at the mall. "We are thrilled for this growing international brand to join the Mall of America family."

A location in Brooklyn Park at 8500 Xylon Av. N. is slated to open in January, on the site of a former BP gas station. More Hortons restaurants in the Twin Cities are expected. Paul Durigon, chief executive of Restaurant Development Partners, declined to discuss plans. RDP is the developer of the Tim Hortons brand in Minnesota.

The restaurant chain was started in 1964 by hockey legend Tim Horton, who played 24 seasons in the NHL. It has more than 3,600 outlets in Canada and about 800 in the U.S., including two in Tower and one in Mahnomen. New locations in International Falls and Brainerd are under construction.
