Towns vs. Davis will have to wait

Wolves update: The Lakers dismantled the Wolves 127-91 in Los Angeles on Dec. 27, but Karl-Anthony Towns missed that game because of a wrist injury. … D'Angelo Russell (left leg soreness) and Jarrett Culver (sprained left ankle) are both out for Tuesday. … Since his return, Towns is averaging 21.0 points and 9.7 rebounds on 57% shooting. He is shooting 50% from three-point range. … Jarred Vanderbilt got the start for Josh Okogie in Sunday's win and it marked the 14th different starting lineup the Wolves deployed in 27 games. Vanderbilt had 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocks in 23 minutes.

Lakers update: Anthony Davis will miss Wednesday's game as he recovers from an Achilles injury and a reported calf strain that will keep him out two to three weeks, ESPN reported. Davis was averaging 22.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. … LeBron James (above) is averaging 25.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game and is shooting 38% from three-point range on a career-high 6.8 attempts per game. James' career high is 41%, which he set in 2013 with Miami on only 3.3 attempts per game. … After coming to the Lakers in trade from Oklahoma City, Dennis Schroder has started all 28 games and is averaging 13.9 points.
