Timeline of Vikings coach Mike Zimmer's eye issues
Nov. 1: Zimmer has his first eye surgery, to fix a torn retina, the day after an ugly road loss in Chicago, during which he scratched his right eye.
Dec. 1: Zimmer is sidelined for a Thursday night home loss to Dallas after emergency surgery for a detached retina the previous night. Zimmer, after surgery No. 3, returns to the Vikings the following week.
March 2: The 60-year-old said at the NFL scouting combine that he had a fifth procedure scheduled for April. "Then I'll be good to go, I think."
April 17: Zimmer undergoes another surgery. Days later, at a follow-up appointment, doctors discover a cataract, leading to another surgery.
May 20: Speaking at his youth football camp, he reveals he had "another little surgery" on his right eye, putting the total at eight surgeries.
May 22: The Vikings announce Zimmer will take a few weeks off "to dedicate to recovering from eye surgery and restoring his health."
