Dec. 9. 2008: Federal agents arrest Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich at his Chicago home on corruption charges, including the allegation that he tried to sell or trade President Obama's vacated Senate seat.

January 2009: Illinois House impeaches Blagojevich; Senate votes to remove him from office.

June 3, 2010: First corruption trial begins.

Aug. 17, 2010: Jury deadlocks on 23 counts after 14 days of deliberations; finds Blagojevich guilty of one count of lying to federal agents.

April 20, 2011: Retrial begins.

June 27, 2011: Jurors return guilty verdicts on 17 of 20 counts.
