Gender gaffes
Sitcoms revolving about life on the stand-up circuit are nothing new, but "Take My Wife" hopes to stick out by focusing on lesbian standups, played by Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher, who are married in real life. There aren't a lot of belly laughs, and the pair seem like they're being restrained by Whit Stillman, but you can't help but root for them, especially when they have to endure the juvenile banter of their primarily male peers. Esposito will perform Aug. 24 at Acme Comedy Co. in Minneapolis.
