Born: Dec. 25, 1968.
1987: Graduated from Clay Center (Kan.) Community High School.
1994: Graduated from Kansas State.
1994: Began coaching career at Santa Fe Trail High School.
1995: Joined Jerry Kill's staff at Saginaw Valley State as defensive line coach.
1999: Named defensive coordinator at Emporia State.
2001-07: Defensive coordinator at Southern Illinois.
2005: Filled in as acting head coach after Kill suffered a seizure on the Southern Illinois sideline and was later diagnosed with kidney cancer.
2008-10: Defensive coordinator at Northern Illinois.
2011-13: Defensive coordinator at Minnesota.
2013: Went 4-3 as acting head coach for the Gophers after Kill took a leave of absence due to health reasons.
2014: Named associate head coach at Minnesota.
2015: Named interim head coach when Kill retired after seven games to focus on lingering health concerns. Received three-year contract for permanent coaching job on Nov. 11.
