Playwright Barbara Field, whose works include the Guthrie Theater's "A Christmas Carol," will be in attendance Monday at the memorial celebration of actor, playwright and professor Charles Nolte. Nolte died in January. Over his career, he appeared on Broadway alongside such actors as Maureen Stapleton, Charlton Heston and Tony Randall.

He also taught at the University of Minnesota from the mid-1960s until the late 1990s. Field is one of his former students. "He was a remarkable man," she said.

The Charles Nolte memorial takes place 6 p.m. Monday at Rarig Center/Proscenium Theatre, University of Minnesota, 330 South 21st Avenue, Minneapolis.
