(As told by Tommy's dad, Chuck McNamara) The boys caught these crappies — which ranged from 15 to 17 inches — on Little Boy Lake near Longville over Memorial Day weekend. They caught about a dozen others similar in size. They were using puddle jumpers with crappie minnows. The funny thing is, as nice as these crappies were, Fisher and Tommy just kept talking about the "really big ones" that either got away or wouldn't bite!

SPECIAL FISH

SPECIAL FISH Adam Schneck, 13, of Minnetonka, caught and released this largemouth bass on Lake Minnewashta while fishing with his grandfather, Stew Peterson, and cousin. The photo has special meaning now: Peterson died of a heart attack days later. ìThis was his last fishing outing with his grandson,íí said Adamís dad, Jay Schneck. ìHis love in life was teaching people and his family to fish.íí

HEAVY FISH, LIGHT LINE

HEAVY FISH, LIGHT LINE Gail Gregory of Coon Rapids caught this nice largemouth bass on Deep Portage Lake near Backus. She only had on 2-pound test line, so it took her about 15 minutes to land it. After a quick picture, it was returned to the water.
