Today's trophy tales

Nancy Weidenfeller, Minnetonka • 35-inch northern • Lake St. Joseph (Ontario)

Fishing on an Ontario lake — about 315 miles northwest of Thunder Bay — where nets aren't allowed, Nancy Weidenfeller, above, caught this northern. Moments later, she caught a 23-inch walleye.

A good start to summer

On her first day of summer vacation and the last cast of the day, Kirra Cutting, 9, of Minneapolis, caught this 19-inch bass from a dock on Kauppi Lake (St. Louis County).

Snaring a nice catch

Zachary Olson, 12, of Farmington, caught this 29-inch freshwater drum using an ultralight rod from a dock on Devils Lake (near Brandon, Minn.).

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
