Swinging on a star

"Tony Bennett: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song" relies more on Broadway belters (Brian Stokes Mitchell, Vanessa Williams) than big-band crooners, and host Bruce Willis almost spoils the party with his tone-deaf introductions. But the ceremony is saved by the 91-year-old guest of honor, who performs a laid-back version of "They All Laughed" that will have you grinning from ear to ear.

8 p.m. Friday, TPT, Ch. 2

Adopted sons of comedy

Pete Lee and Tom Segura are such favorites at Minneapolis' Acme Comedy Co. that owner Louis Lee recruited them for his 2016 tour of Asia, captured in the recently released "I Need You to Kill." The two comics get even more exposure this weekend with Lee performing on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" (10:35 p.m. Friday, KARE, Ch. 11) and the release of the stand-up special "Tom Segura: Disgraceful" (now available on Netflix).

Game of thrones

"Victoria" can't top "The Crown" or even "Downton Abbey," but it's a royal treat in its own right, thanks to Jenna Coleman's performance as a spunky queen. Diana Rigg fills in for Maggie Smith as the resident wit. For perspective from the cast and creator, see Saturday's Variety section.

8 p.m. Sunday, TPT, Ch. 2

Desperate for laughs

There may be three too many shows about stand-up comedians, but I'm more than grateful that "Crashing" is back for a second season. Pete Holmes, playing a rough version of himself, hasn't reached the A List yet, a blessing since life at the bottom of the barrel means a shaming by Dr. Oz and verbal abuse from Bill Burr. You don't have to be a comedy-club regular to rally behind this lovable underdog.

9:30 p.m. Sunday, HBO
