TV picks for July 22-26: 'Ted Williams: The Greatest Hitter That Ever Lived,' Stephen King's 'Castle Rock,' 'Burden of Truth,'

"Ted Williams: The Greatest Hitter Who Ever Lived" won't convince anyone the late Red Sox legend should be eligible for sainthood, but the documentary (out Tuesday on DVD) does reveal a sweeter side to the stubborn slugger, who quietly helped fellow players who were down on their luck and insisted the media not cover his charity work. Jon Hamm provides the narration.

Power of attorney
"Smallville" sweetheart Kristin Kreuk puts on her big-girl clothes to play a corporate attorney in "Burden of Truth," a legal drama aimed squarely at millennials. The plot — hardened lawyer softens up when she returns to her hometown — is fairly predictable, but there are a couple of nice surprises, not the least of which is Kreuk's ability to command a series without any help from Superman.

The Maine event
"Castle Rock" isn't technically a sequel to "The Shawshank Redemption," but there are plenty of references to that classic tale as well as other Stephen King yarns. Andre Holland, Alison Tolman and Sissy Spacek are among the all-stars perplexed by head-scratching events at the fictional prison, including the appearance of a nearly mute inmate who appears to have studied "The Dead Zone" playbook. Fans of King and "Twin Peaks" will eat it up.
