TV picks for Sept. 4: W. Kamau Bell, 'The League,' Mary Tyler Moore reunion
"Hot in Cleveland" (9 p.m., TV Land), the series that's become the platform for reunions, hits the jackpot with Mary Tyler Moore, Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman and Georgia Engel all stopping by to see Betty White. It's the first time in more than 30 years the five actresses from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" have gotten together for a sitcom.
A draft in here
The football season officially begins with the return of "The League" on the new FXX channel (9:30 p.m.). This fantasy-football farce has been a great platform for Katie Aselton, Mark Duplass and Nick Kroll. Sports has never been more absurd — or funny — with the possible exception of Randy Moss press conferences.
Ring that Bell!
The mainstream may be buzzing about the rise of Seth Meyers and the return of Arsenio Hall. I'm most intrigued by "Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell" (10 p.m., FXX), which will now run Mondays through Thursdays instead of just once a week. Can Bell handle the added pressure? Bet on it.
