The Twins (21-31) swept three games from the Orioles at home last week and have won 15 games in a row vs. Baltimore. Berrios and Pineda pitched the final two games of that series. … RF Max Kepler joined their already-crowded injured list because of a left hamstring strain. He joins CF Byron Buxton (hip), IF Luis Arraez (shoulder) and RHP Kenta Maeda (arm) as prominent players sidelined by injury. … OF Rob Refsnyder has not only played well in center field — a position he had never played in the majors before this month — but he also has the highest batting average among active players, hitting .348 with a .392 on-base percentage and .543 slugging percentage.
Orioles update
A 13-game losing streak has Baltimore at an MLB-worst 17-36, 16½ games back in the AL East. They have the majors' second-worst run differential at minus-67, and the majors' worst home record at 6-18. Since LHP John Means' no-hitter at Seattle on May 5, the Orioles have dropped 20 of 22 games. … Baltimore has eight pitchers with at least 20 innings pitched but only Means has an ERA below 3.00. … 1B Trey Mancini is tied for third in the majors with 42 RBI and homered off Pineda on Wednesday. … CF Cedric Mullins went 4-for-11 vs. the Twins last week but also was caught stealing and picked off.
