Two teams grown very familiar with each other in July meet again, this time for a three-game series at Target Field.

TWINS UPDATE

The Twins and Tigers are playing their third series since July 8; the teams played seven games in a row spanning the All-Star break, with the Twins winning all four at home and losing all three in Detroit. The Twins are 7-5 against the Tigers this season but only 52-51 at Target Field. The Twins have not lost the season series to Detroit since 2016. ... The Twins (42-58) are 23-28 at home after losing three of four to the Angels. ... Pineda will face the Tigers for the first time this season. In nine career starts against the Tigers, he is 4-2 with a 3.91 ERA. ... 2B Jorge Polanco is hitting .326 with three home runs, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored vs. Detroit this season.

TIGERS UPDATE

The Tigers (47-54) have lost seven consecutive road games after being swept at Kansas City. The Tigers are 19-32 on the road. ... Before Friday, they had won seven in a row, their longest winning streak in five years. That winning streak helped them move 4½ games up on the Twins after they entered the All-Star break in a virtual tie for third in the AL Central. ... Former Twins IF Jonathan Schoop doubled in the ninth inning Sunday to extend his hitting streak to a career high 15 games. It's the longest hitting streak for a Detroit player since 2017. ... DH Miguel Cabrera has 2,933 career hits, 38th all-time. He had two RBI Saturday to move in No. 20 in MLB history.
