The Twins cut ties with lefthanded reliever Jose Mijares on Monday, deciding not to tender him a 2012 contract and letting him go as a free agent.

Mijares, 27, went 0-2 with a 4.59 ERA in 58 appearances last year and would have made about $700,000 through arbitration.
Mijares showed great promise as a rookie in 2008, but his ERA has increased each of the past four seasons, from 0.87 to 2.34 to 3.31 to 4.59.
Twins General Manager Terry Ryan said the team did tender 2012 contracts to their other three arbitration eligible players, Francisco Liriano, Glen Perkins and Alexi Casilla.
The Twins now have 37 players on their 40-man roster.
