TWINS UPDATE

Joe Mauer was 8-for-15 in three games against the Blue Jays when the Twins visited Toronto late last month. … Byron Buxton made his mark in that series with three home runs during an Aug. 27 game there. … The Twins are honoring Bartolo Colon with "Big Sexy Night" on Friday, promoting a ticket package that includes a Colon T-shirt. Because of a surge in interest, the Twins added another 1,000 T-shirt packages for the game. … Colon is 12-6 with a 4.12 ERA in 28 career starts against Toronto. … Gibson is the first Twins pitcher to win at least 10 games in a season and lose at least 10 in the same season since — himself. He was 11-11 in 2015.

Blue Jays UPDATE

Jose Bautista is in town, and that means watch your head. Bautista is tied with Cleveland's Carlos Santana and Kansas City's Salvador Perez with 15 home runs at Target Field, the most of any opponent. … Troy Tulowitzki's season is over because of right ankle surgery, and he is fending off questions about his future at short. Meanwhile, shortstop Richard Urena has been called up from Class AA New Hampshire and is thriving, batting .316 in his first 10 games with the Blue Jays. … Toronto won three of four games at Target Field last season.
