U.S. marshals on Wednesday seized probiotic products from UAS Laboratories, after the Eden Prairie-based business claimed its products could heal certain ailments even though they lacked FDA approval.

The FDA said products that were seized include DDS Acidophilus, DDS Plus, Probioplus DDS, DDS Junior and Cran-Gyn DDS products in capsule, powder and tablet forms. UAS Laboratories claimed these products could be used for colds, urinary tract infections, yeast infections, high cholesterol, ulcers, flu and respiratory infections.

The FDA said it had issued warnings in the past. Drugs that claim to treat certain conditions, must be approved by the FDA and shown to be safe and effective under that claim.
