Vikings vs. Eagles: a playoff history
The Vikings are 0-3 against the Eagles in the postseason — three double-digit defeats under three different coaches (Bud Grant, Mike Tice and Brad Childress). Poor quarterback play was an issue each game.
Jan. 3, 1981 Veterans Stadium
Eagles 31, Vikings 16 (divisional): The Vikings led 14-0 in the second quarter, but they were outscored 31-2 the rest of the way. The Eagles went on to reach their first Super Bowl, losing to the Raiders. Tommy Kramer threw five interceptions — including two each to Herm Edwards and Roynell Young. On top of that, the Vikings also lost three fumbles.
Jan. 16, 2005 Lincoln Financial field
Eagles 27, Vikings 14 (divisional): The Eagles won even with their star wide receiver Terrell Owens watching from a suite while nursing an injured ankle. They went on to lose to the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Daunte Culpepper was sacked three times, intercepted twice and connected with Randy Moss only three times for 51 yards.
Jan. 4, 2009 Metrodome
Eagles 26, Vikings 14 (wild card): The Eagles spoiled the Vikings' first home playoff game in eight years, and Andy Reid beat Childress, his former offensive coordinator and good friend. Tarvaris Jackson, who lost his job in September but got it back when Gus Frerotte was injured, went 15-for-35 for 164 yards with one interception.
