Want to add a festive kick to your Minnesota layers? Our stylist channeled some of the season's hottest trends in assembling these holiday looks.

Cold weather makes layering a necessity, but we shouldn't confine ourselves to flannels and heritage brands. Don't be bashful about mixing textures. Try pairing preppy stripes with fur accents. Or wear some feminine lace with comfy winter hats, vests and scarves.

When it comes to color, the holiday palette is bold and saturated. Jewel tones are an instant attention-grabber, but nothing gets noticed like shimmering fabrics and sparkles. Add metallic brocades or sequins to an otherwise muted ensemble for the perfect amount of flair.
