Waterford crystal closeout Now that the Waterford outlet in Albertville is closed, it's difficult to find Waterford on sale. One exception is Landmark Jewelers (402 St. Peter St., St. Paul, 651-222-2282), which is discontinuing its collection of Waterford crystal made in Ireland. All Waterford items (about 75 styles) are discounted 25 percent, including desk clocks ($145 before the discount), 10-inch bowls ($325), rose bowls ($195), champagne flutes ($165/pair), votives ($49) and a 10-inch Seahorse vase ($350). Most pieces are in the Lismore pattern. Many of Landmark's original prices are about 5 to 8 percent lower than online sources such as Amazon, Horchow and Neiman Marcus.

Local thrift store offers birthday discount Steeple People surplus and thrift store (2004 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls., 612-871-8305) celebrates its 30th anniversary with 30 percent off storewide Sunday through Nov. 14. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday (although the store is usually closed Sundays), Monday, noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Furniture, designer clothing, small appliances, kitchen items and art are expected to be the hot sellers, said manager Mark Schneider. In 30 years the nonprofit has donated $651,000 to more than 100 charitable organizations, including HAUMC Dignity Center, Emma Norton Residence, La Puerta Abierta Church, Joyce Nursery School, Groveland Food Shelf and Andean Rural Health in Bolivia. The store also donates clothing and household items to Minnesota Flood Relief, St. Stephen's Church and the Clothing Connection.

Bloomie's home sale Bloomingdale's (Mall of America, Bloomington, 952-883-2747) will have its home sale Friday and Saturday. Good deals include sheet sets from Court of Versailles, Charisma and the house brand for $50 to $130, regularly $100 to $413; Raymond Waites and Court of Versailles bed-in-bag sets for $150 to $200, regularly $400 to $600; all brands of towels 40 percent off; bed pillows 50 percent off, and Hudson Park and house brand down comforters in all sizes, $97 to $262, regularly $195 to $525. The Cuisinart 11-cup food processor (model DLC-8S) is $100. The lowest price I could find for the same model online was $138.

Home furnishings sales The semiannual storewide sale at Creative Lighting (1728 Concordia Av., St. Paul, 651-647-0111, www.creative-lighting.com) starts today and continues through Nov. 21. Save an additional 10 percent or more storewide on framed art, lamps, mirrors, ceiling fans and floor and table lamps. Decorative drawer and cabinet pulls on sample boards (no back stock) are marked down 60 percent. The company revamped its pricing policy last year to be more in line with online pricing, said owner Michael Minsberg, who often sees people in the store price-checking on their iPhones. Those without Web-enabled phones can do price comparisons later using Pricegrabber.com or a Google search. Creative Lighting will match most local and online prices. The store's online selection is larger, but customers can pick up items in the store to save on shipping costs.

Gabberts (Galleria, Edina, 952-927-1500) is having a rare sample sale of selected Design Studio furniture and accessories. The high-end pieces are discounted 35 to 70 percent starting today. John Ewoldt • 612-673-7633
