No. 1 Wake loses its first • VIRGINIA TECH 78, No. 1 WAKE FOREST 71: Malcolm Delaney scored 21 points and the Hokies (12-6, 3-1 ACC) held on to upset the previously unbeaten Demon Deacons (16-1, 3-1) on Wednesday night in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Jeff Teague scored 23 points for Wake Forest, which was playing as the nation's top-ranked team for the first time since November 2004.
"You never want to lose, but I'm kind of glad we got it out the way," Teague said. "Everybody was trying to play perfect, and everybody didn't want to mess up and things like that, because they wanted to stay No. 1. But now we've got that out the way, we're just going to get back to doing what we were doing."
• No. 3 CONNECTICUT 89, No. 20 VILLANOVA 83: A.J. Price scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Huskies (17-1, 6-1 Big East) past the Wildcats (14-4, 2-3) in Hartford, Conn. UConn has won six in a row.
• No. 5 NORTH CAROLINA 94, No. 10 CLEMSON 70: Wayne Ellington had 25 points and the Tar Heels (17-2, 3-2 ACC) remained perfect in 54 home games against the Tigers (16-2, 2-2).
• No. 6 OKLAHOMA 72, NEBRASKA 61: Blake Griffin had 27 points and 18 rebounds, breaking a Big 12 record with his eighth game with at least 20 points and 15 rebounds, as the host Sooners (18-1, 4-0) beat the Cornhuskers (12-5, 2-2) to become the first team in the nation with 18 wins.
• No. 17 ARIZONA STATE 53, ARIZONA 47: James Harden scored 21 points and the Sun Devils (16-3, 5-2 Pac-10) beat the host Wildcats (11-8, 2-5) to win consecutive games at McKale Center for the first time in 25 years.
• SOUTH CAROLINA 70, No. 24 FLORIDA 69: Zam Fredrick's layup as time expired lifted the host Gamecocks (13-4, 2-2 SEC) to a victory over the Gators (16-3, 3-1), who had won 10 in a row. Moments earlier, Fredrick missed what would've been a tying foul shot with 4.7 seconds left.
