Board member resigns Wayzata school board member Gary Landis resigned at a recent school board meeting.
Landis cited changes in his professional and personal life, including the possibility of moving out of the district, as the reasons for his decision. He's served on the school board since 2003 and was reelected to a second term in 2007. His last day will be June 30.
Wayzata school board members met last week to discuss the resignation and will appoint someone to fill Landis' term through Dec. 30, 2009. The rest of the term will be up for election in November 2009.
Bob Noyed, a spokesman for the school district, said board members will discuss the appointment process further or move forward with filling the vacancy at a meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 14, at Wayzata City Hall, 600 Rice St.
Instrument sale The Wayzata Music Education Boosters will hold an instrument consignment sale from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on June 26 at Wayzata East Middle School, 12000 Ridgemount Drive, Plymouth.
Anyone looking to sell an instrument can take it to East Middle School between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on June 25. Instruments will be evaluated by music vendors for price and necessary repairs.
Sellers may set a minimum price and then return after the sale to pick up either their instruments or their proceeds from the sale. The music boosters will charge a small commission for each sale, which will be donated to the Wayzata School District's music programs.
