Whaddya expect?: Celtics 122, Wolves 104

The Celtics resumed their winning ways and the Wolves their losing ways tonight at TD Garden in a game that was well over by halftime.

Boston won 11 straight before losing at home to Philly on Friday night.

The Wolves now still look for those elusive consecutive victories after beating Sacramento at home on Friday night.

You figured the Celtics would come out ornery and they did, putting this one away after they ran away to leads of 34-19 after one quarter and 66-41 by halftime.

The Wolves outscored them in the second half, but that was inconsequential by then.

The most memorable moment of the night was a highlight as youtube worthy as Corey Brewer's wowsome dunk over Derek Fisher in that game at L.A. nine days ago.

This time, it was Brewer who ended up posterized.

This one came early in the second quarter, with the Celtics already ahead 36-21.

Eddie House punched the ball ahead during a chase in the backcourt, then ran it down along the sideline in the frontcourt before he flipped a behind-the-back pass ahead that saved the ball from going out of bounds.

It went straight to Tony Allen, who took a couple strides, rose and jammed the ball just as Brewer came flying across for the block.

"I didn't think he was athletic enough to get to the ball," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said of House, "and then he made a play."

Allen called the play "all random."

"I kind of surprised myself," he said. "I wanted to lay it up and I saw him running hard, so I just finished."

And how...

Al Jefferson came into the league with the Celtics the same year as Allen and has watched Allen battle injuries throughout his career and has remained friends with him.

"I was like, `Wow!' " Big Al said. "I haven't seen my man just take off and dunk on people like that in a minute. It was on Corey. It was a little payback for what he did to Derek Fisher."

The Garden fans, already growing bored with the game, came leaping out of their seats.

"Corey's going to challenge, he's that type of player," Ramon Sessions said. "You're going to get some of those in this league. You've got to live with that when they dunk on you."

A few other things about tonight:

* The Number of the Night: 24. That's how many fewer points Oleksiy Pecherov scored this time than the last time the Wolves played the Celtics. Remember those 24 he scored against KG way back on Nov. 4? This time, Stewie played just 3:44, missed two shots and didn't score a point.

* Damien Wilkins topped the season-high 16 points he scored Friday against the Kings by two, with 18 tonight in his fourth consecutive start while Ryan Gomes is out with that high ankle sprain.

* Paul Pierce's 6-for-6 night from beyond the 3-point arc -- on his way to a game-high 29 points -- tied a Celtics record for most three pointers made in a game without a miss. Who'd he tie? Larry Bird? Nope. Walter McCarty, who did so in 1999 and current GM Danny Ainge, who did so in 1988.

"You would have thought Larry had done better than that," Rivers said.
