WHAT'S NEXT

Sunday: Greece votes, an outcome that may determine whether the European Union holds together or sinks deeper into recession; French parliamentary elections, which could give new President Francois Hollande a mandate to implement spending plans.

Monday and Tuesday: G-20 leaders will meet in Mexico to discuss ways to spark growth.

Thursday: Leaders from Germany, France, Spain and Italy will meet over the financial crisis with a focus on Spain's teetering economy.

End of June: Summit of the European Council
