Monday: French President Nicolas Sarkozy and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet to discuss how to better integrate fiscal policy across the 17 E.U. countries that use the euro, including the potential for sanctions on countries that fail to get deficits under control. Separately, International Monetary Fund officials will meet to review austerity measures and fiscal policies in Greece, where the eurozone crisis began.

Tuesday: U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will be in Europe for the start of meetings with financial and political leaders throughout the week.

Friday: Political leaders of the eurozone nations will gather in Brussels for a summit to try to hammer out a plan for closer fiscal union.
