1960: Helps secure relocation of Washington Senators, renamed Minnesota Twins

1963 to 1972: CEO of Dain & Co.

1964: Runs unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate against Sen. Eugene McCarthy

1972: Retires from Dain to teach at the Carlson School of Business

1966: Establishes Johnson Institute for addiction treatment with his wife and Vernon Johnson, an Episcopal priest

1967: Helps bring NHL North Stars to Minnesota

1982: Loses race for governor to Rudy Perpich
