GAME RECAP

Star Tribune's Three Stars

1. Jaccob Slavin, Carolina: Before he scored the only shootout goal with a nice move on Alex Stalock, the defenseman blocked Charlie Coyle's attempt to score on a rebound early in the third period, one of his team-high four blocks.

2. Alex Stalock, Wild: Thanks to his teammates' loose defense, he faced a barrage of grade-A chances, stopping 38 of 42 shots.

3. Victor Rask, Carolina: Gave the Hurricanes their only lead with 1:34 left in regulation and also had an assist.

NUMBERS

1 Goals for Eric Staal against Carolina, where he played his first 11 NHL seasons. Staal now has scored against every team in the NHL other than new franchise Las Vegas.

600 NHL games for Wild forward Chris Stewart, who scored on a breakaway for his second goal in as many games.

5-11 Carolina's record in shootouts the past two seasons.
