Today is Selection Monday for the women's NCAA tournament, but the Gophers will not hear their name called again this March. Minnesota finished 15-16 and the losing record means the Gophers are unlikely to get into the secondary Women's NIT tournament, which generally invites just winning teams. The Gophers, who last made the NCAAs in 2015, played in the WNIT last year. A lower-tier tournament could be a possibility. Minnesota played in — and won — the Women's Basketball Invitational in 2012.
With NCAAs out of the question, Gophers women also unlikely to get WNIT bid
