Wolves update: G Derrick Rose made his return to the lineup for the Wolves on Friday, but it was uncertain whether Rose would play on consecutive nights as he returns from a right ankle injury. F Robert Covington remains out because of a bone bruise on his right knee. … The Wolves lost to the Pelicans 123-114 on Dec. 31 in New Orleans even though All-Star Anthony Davis missed that game because of an illness. Covington was injured late in that game. It was also one of the losses owner Glen Taylor cited as a potential tipping point in his decision to fire former coach Tom Thibodeau. Karl-Anthony Towns had 28 points, 17 rebounds and six assists in that game.

Pelicans update: The Pelicans' win over the Wolves on New Year's Eve was the first of four wins for New Orleans in their past five games. … After illness kept him out against the Wolves, Davis has averaged 32 points and 15.5 rebounds in his past four games. … Guard E'Twaun Moore did not play in Wednesday's game against Cleveland because of a leg injury and is day-to-day. Moore is averaging 24 points in two games against the Wolves this season.
