Wolves players didn't take any of the major honors at Monday Night's NBA Awards presentation. But Jamal Crawford, who has decided not to return to Minnesota, was honored with the league's Teammate of the Year award.
Wolves winner: Jamal Crawford named NBA Teammate of the Year
Crawford chose not to exercise his option to return to the Wolves for the 2018-19 season and is now a free agent.
"It's up there with any award I've ever gotten because you're not trying to win this award," he said. "You're just trying to be solid, you're trying to be a good vet, you're trying to let your teammates know you have their back on and off cthe court. It's a testament to character."
Crawford, 38, averaged 10.3 points in about 20 minutes per game for the Wolves last season, and was third on the team in three-pointers behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins despite being a reserve.
Afterward, he talked about how his career has been "re-energized now. I can't wait for this year."
