A woman exited a stopped vehicle in a lane of traffic in Eden Prairie shortly after sunset and was fatally struck by an SUV, police said Monday.

The crash occurred about 8:40 p.m. Saturday at Flying Cloud Drive and Anderson Lakes Parkway, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Holly Chunmei Bergstrom, 25, of Eden Prairie suffered numerous injuries and died Sunday at HCMC, the Examiner’s Office said.

Police said Bergstrom got out of a vehicle while it was stopped on northbound Flying Cloud Drive in the left-hand turn lane at Anderson Lakes Parkway. A southbound SUV being driven by a 17-year-old girl hit Bergstrom, who was “attempting to cross Flying Cloud Drive outside of the crosswalk,” a police statement read.

Police spokeswoman Kari Knoll said she doesn’t know why Bergstrom, a passenger, got out of the vehicle.
